Adventure Taster Days for Families

If you are looking for some fun days out as a family, a group of friends, a local group or just simply a programme of activities to try out something completely new, Ace Outdoors can offer you an extensive range of activity packages at very affordable prices without attending a residential course.

Rock Climbing & Abseiling

Our climbing taster days are intended as a great day out – with friends. We hope to inspire and motivate you to take up rock climbing as a hobby. Our Ace Rock Climbing taster days cover all the basic skills of rock climbing and allow you to experience the thrill of abseiling. These days are suited to complete beginners or those with a little experience. Courses are based throughout the North West of England, using easily accessible local crags/ quarries.

Gorge Scrambling & Walking

If you are looking for an adrenaline sport involving climbing or descending waterfalls and gorges, then this is definitely something you have to try…

We will kit you out with wet suits, buoyancy aids and helmets in preparation for launching yourself into deep pools, swimming through narrow canyons, sliding down naturally formed rock flumes and climbing waterfalls. You will get wet and you will have a fantastic time!

Gorge walking is a milder version of Gorge Scrambling. It involves walking and scrambling up narrow rivers and gorges. You will wear waterproofs and are likely to only get your feet wet.

Mountain Biking

Mountain Biking is one of the UK’s fastest growing outdoor pursuits with newly purpose built trails being constructed across the country. The North West has endless miles of forest trails and an abundance of technical terrain for the more adventurous.

Hill Walking & Camping

We are very fortunate to offer hill walks in the Lake District, Peak District and Snowdonia set amongst some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes.

Ace offers walks tailored to suit all abilities from lowland coastal walks to high-level mountain walks. Day walks are available throughout the year.

We also provide training and supervision for Duke Of Edinburgh Award expeditions.

Local Team Building & Problem Solving Taster Day

We use the challenge of the outdoor environment and a series of challenges to focus on problem solving, team work, building self confidence, decision making, resolving conflict, establishing trust, etc.

This one-day event, based around a local permanent orienteering course, uses map reading skills to find your way through a course set in a local country park and adjacent countryside. Working in small teams of 6-8 people in an area of about one square mile you will complete a challenge course. En route you could face physical challenges such as river or gorge crossings involving abseils or low rope traverses. For those less adventurous in the team, you will have your moment of glory solving the various tasks. These require lateral, out of the box thinking, including finding and solving clues, puzzles and anagrams.

For younger children we can provide picture trails and other types of problem solving activities in woodland.
