The Haut Giffre Valley is probably one of the prettiest valleys in the French Alps. The villages within the valley date from the 17th century and consistently win the coveted "Ville Fleuris" award. The valley is not well known outside of France. It has long been a favourite area with the French themselves both in the summer and winter.

From the comfort of our cosy chalet base in the village of Sixt Fer à Cheval, we will explore this sensational area to gain breath-taking views of the surrounding valleys, including the Mont Blanc massif. Each day we journey on snow covered forest tracks up to the alpine pastures. Our knowledgeable leaders will help you make the most of your holiday by enabling you to discover the beauty of this winter landscape. They will assist you to recognise and identify animal tracks and other hidden clues of animals, living in this winter wonderland.

We adjust our holiday itinerary to take account of the snow conditions and fitness levels in the group. We also offer you the opportunity to experience the thrill of snow shoeing under the stars on our optional night time excursion.

Walking with the aid of modern lightweight snowshoes is an easy way to travel through this winter wonderland. TSL snowshoes™ are lightweight and it takes just a few minutes to become familiar with this essential walking equipment.
