The British Isles have a wonderful diversity of stunning and inspiring places to enjoy a quiet moment on a low level country stroll, or a take your breath away mountain moment. There is truly something for everyone.

We offer a full range of guided services to many of this country's remote and highest upland scenery, through many of our guided excursions.

Whether it's the rolling moors of the Yorkshire Dales; the Peak District with its grit stone escarpments; the rugged mountain peaks of Snowdonia; the beauty and poetic nature of the Lake District; or the high drama of Scotland, there is sure to be something you'll love.

We are keen to provide a wide range of options and have included a number of classic high ridge walks, lower walks and more challenging longer walks to tempt you.

Our walking guides are keen to share with you a wealth of knowledge on how these places were formed, their geology, flora and fauna, and how the landscape has evolved and has been shaped by the generations of people that have lived there.

We have a wide range of hill walking skills courses and short adventure breaks which will enable you to develop and improve your confidence to explore these areas safely.

If you have something different in mind, or would like to discuss a different itinerary for yourself or your group, we are more than happy to do this on a private guided basis.

Literally on our doorstep, the Peak District National Park offers us a varied landscape for short weekend hill walking breaks and guided day walks. We offer a number of walking routes based on the fringes of the Northern Moors of the Peak District and along some of the best wind swept edges this area has to offer.

The high moors of The Dark Peak rise to more than 2000 feet, the highest hill being Kinder Scout at 2088ft (636 metres). The tops of these high moors are covered in a thick blanket of "peat". Streams and rivers have carved deep channels through the peat and down to the bedrock. The area is infamous with walkers for its peak bogs and can be a very barren and desolate place in the full depths of winter.

The White Peak, in comparison, is a place of complete contrast with its small attractive villages, its tradition of well-dressing and network of well-established tracks and trails.

The Lake District, also known as The Lakes or Lakeland, is another popular hill walking area we regularly visit. It is one of our most popular destinations, and is famous for its stunning mountain ranges (or fells), and for the writings of William Wordsworth and the Lake Poets. Amongst hill walkers Alfred Wainwright (1907-1991) will always be known for his famous Pictorial Guides to the Lakeland Fells, which he compiled between 1952 and 1966.

We offer a wide range of guided low level and high mountain walks, in some cases even in the footsteps of Wainwright himself. No experience is required and with walks as good as these you are spoilt for choice and fantastic views.

"The Highlands" and your first Munro or Scottish mountain over 3000 feet or 914 metres is a very special experience. They are named after Sir Hugh Munro who first catalogued them in 1891. Want to get away from the pressures of modern living?

At Ace Outdoors we love nothing more than the wild camping experience to get maximum enjoyment in the mountains knowing that we can make camp, pitch our tents and watch the sun go down without the worry most people have about being out in the mountains after dark. This really is what cool camping is all about. Wild camping or camping away from a regular camp site carrying everything to be completely self sufficient, for a multi day trip, can be added to most of our regular hill walking itineraries as a group camping activity or as a separate backpacking course (in both summer and winter conditions). We are also members of the Mountain Bothy Association and can use other types of basic buildings as part of our expeditions planning.
