Forest Team Building Adventure (& Wilderness) Challenge - for schools and corporate clients

Our Bushcraft and wilderness skills courses allow you to remove yourself and your team from your normal comfort zone. They provide a new challenge that will encourage initiative, teamwork and delegation, leaving everyone with a feeling of achievement. The skills acquired can easily be transferred to clients’ normal working or learning environment.

At Ace Outdoors we can work with you to provide a team development course with a difference. We can explore and analyse building an effective team through a number of individual diagnostic tests before the activity and through the use of video in performance appraisals post activity. This is popular with school groups, graduate trainees and apprentices working with their managers, teachers or other employees.

Our 1-day or 2-day experiences provide a rewarding, exciting and different type of team challenge. Set in almost 800 acres of mixed ancient woodland you are as far away as possible from the office or classroom, where you can challenge yourself against whatever ‘Mother Nature’ throws at you.

What does this course involve?

On arrival at one of our local centres an evening induction and briefing is held to welcome you. This provides an opportunity for you to master basic navigation skills and gather other information you think you might find useful during the next 24 hours of the team challenge or themed adventure mission.

The next morning, your team will be given a route plan and this will have the start point and finish checkpoint marked on your map for the first day. On arriving at each of the checkpoints along the way, a team task is provided to ‘unlock’ the co-ordinates of the next challenge. Each checkpoint, will lead to the next in a logical order, or can be combined as an adventure race for two teams to complete.

Navigation in a dense forest is often more difficult than it first seems. There are many tracks and trails leading off in all directions and visual hand rails or landmarks are often unavailable, only making this challenge seem more impossible than it first appears on paper.

The need for strong group management and leadership, effective decision-making and teamwork is crucial to the overall success of the team. Each challenge the team faces must be overcome and they become increasingly complex in nature, combining to bring out the widest inputs from all team members. This combines multiple intelligences and caters for the different learning styles of participants.

At the end of day one you can decide to arrive back at our minibus to take you to the comfort of a nearby hotel for the team de-brief, or extend the adventure by finding all the co-ordinates that lead to a forest camp, deep in the heart of the forest wilderness. Here you will find hidden all the equipment required to build a base camp for the evening, with food and supplies for the whole team (we will even provide the instructions to build it, just like Ikea!) to stay out overnight.

On day two, your team will leave the jungle camp and go back to civilisation for the team debrief at our base. The course will finish after lunch.

Courses are held throughout the year in our activity base in North Wales and the Lake District.

  £150.00 per person minimum eight participants
• Two day (Residential including overnight Jungle Survival Camp)
  £320 per person minimum of six participants per course.
