Expedition Service for Schools and Youth Groups

At Ace Outdoors we know the value of taking young people on explorations and expeditions, often to unfamiliar places.

Our experience of expedition planning, together with your own knowledge of your pupils, will ensure your expedition is an unforgettable experience.

We can help you plan your expedition and also train and prepare you for your chosen venture, whether at home or abroad, with pre-expedition weekend courses and in-school team leadership skill training.

Duke of Edinburgh & other accredited award schemes

The DofE Award is the leading achievement award for young people and is recognised by employers around the world. Anyone aged 14 to 25 can achieve their award, no matter what their background or abilities, as the programme is personal to them. More importantly it’s lots of fun and enables young people to learn about themselves, others and different places and people.

A Gold DofE Award is widely recognised as equivalent to an A-Level. In a recent survey of major UK employers, carried out by The United Learning Trust, the Gold Award was rated the most important activity undertaken by young people in education.

We are able to work with you and your organisation to enable you to achieve your DofE award, by offering expedition training and assessment, to meet the requirements of the Expedition section. However, you must also work on the other sections of your programme for the correct length such as Service, Skills and Physical Recreation.

ASDAN Adventure & Residential Award

All of our outward-bound, adventure courses and workshops on the environment, through our Forest school and summer schools programmes, can be accredited with a 10, 20, 30, 40, 50 or 60-hour short course award through ASDAN. The Adventure and Residential Award comprises four modules:

• Off on a Trip: Planning and Going
• Aspects of Trips and Visits
• Museums, Galleries and Heritage
• Evaluation

It is a flexible, multi-level programme aimed primarily at 11-19 year olds, but is also suitable for 19+. It provides a standalone certificate of achievement, as well as progression into nationally recognised awards and qualifications.
